At Anandodhara, we want you to be happy with every book, magazine and order you receive from us. This policy explains when you can return an item, how refunds work, and how to reach us. It sits alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law — nothing in this policy takes those rights away.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If an item is faulty, not as described, or does not do what it is meant to do, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. The terms below are in addition to these rights, not instead of them.
Change-of-mind returns (books)
If you simply change your mind about a book, you may return it within 30 days of delivery, as long as it is unused and in the same condition that you received it, with any original packaging or wrapping intact. Please contact us first so we can guide you through it.
Some items cannot be returned for change of mind:
- Magazines, periodicals and newspapers (these are dated and time-sensitive)
- Digital or downloadable products, once the download or access has begun
- Gift cards
- Sale or clearance items
- Any item that has been opened, used, marked, or is no longer in its original condition
This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty or not as described.
Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
If your item arrives damaged or faulty, or you received the wrong item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the problem. We will arrange a replacement or a full refund — including any return postage — at no cost to you. This applies to magazines and other time-sensitive items as well.
Magazine subscriptions
For subscription products (such as Desh, Bartaman, Anandalok and Hangla), you may stop future issues at any time by contacting us. We will cancel the next renewal, and where issues have not yet been dispatched we will refund the unshipped portion. Issues already sent cannot be refunded unless they arrive damaged or faulty.
Event tickets
Tickets for events are generally non-refundable once purchased, unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled, in which case we will offer you a refund or a transfer. Please read the details on each event page before booking.
How to request a return or refund
Please email us at hello@anandodhara.com with your order number and the reason for the return before sending anything back. We will confirm the return address and the next steps. Please do not post items back to us, or to the publisher, without contacting us first — it can delay your refund.
Return postage
For change-of-mind returns, you are responsible for the cost of return postage, and the original postage is not refunded. For faulty, damaged or incorrect items, we cover the return postage. For anything valuable, we suggest a tracked service, as we cannot take responsibility for items lost on their way back to us.
How and when refunds are paid
Once we receive and inspect your returned item, we will email you to confirm whether the refund is approved. Approved refunds are made to your original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank or card provider. If you have not received an approved refund after this time, please check with your bank or card provider first, as posting times vary, and then contact us so we can help.
